Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is Europe’s largest and most important Catholic University and it is the only Italian academic institute that can vaunt a nationwide profile with its five affiliated campuses: Milan, Brescia, Piacenza, Cremona and Rome, where the University Policlinico ‘A. Gemelli’ is also operative. Since its foundation, in 1921, by Father Agostino Gemelli together with a group of Catholic intellectuals, Università Cattolica has granted students not only a solid cultural background and the indispensable professional skills, but also a coherent academic syllabus.Distinctive aspects are the well-structured and multidisciplinary academic programmes, based on commitment to excellence in education, a robust link to the world of work and the professions together with a strong international profile. Twelve faculties, almost 100 among undergraduate, graduate and single-cycle degree programmes and a wide range of postgraduate training options furthering the education of a total of 40 thousand students summarise Università Cattolica syllabus. In fact, the presence of numerous faculties within a single large national University, distributed over five cities, enables the students to benefit from a unique, thorough and multidisciplinary university experience. 

Research is one of the cornerstones upon which Università Cattolica is underpinned. The close relationship between academic services and research contributes decisively to diffusing an interdisciplinary knowledge to the new generations that is based on scientific rigor in the different fields of knowledge. Over 4,500 publications produced each year by professors, researchers, research fellows and doctoral students demonstrate the University’s strong commitment to research.
